Unidentified drones struck two merchant ships off Bulgaria's coast, sinking one, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said, in what was described as the first such attack on civilian vessels in Bulgarian waters. Bulgaria's defense minister called the war a "hybrid" conflict and said it was unclear whether Ukrainian or Russian drones were responsible, while President Zelenskyy stated the attack was carried out by Russia and said Ukraine's navy was coordinating with Bulgarian counterparts. Russia's military separately claimed it had struck two vessels in the Black Sea along with a bridge used by Kyiv for military transport. A related attack saw a Russian drone strike a Marshall Islands-flagged vessel carrying rapeseed oil in the Black Sea, killing one person and injuring seven. The incidents have raised alarm among NATO and EU states about Russian hybrid attacks extending into the waters of non-combatant Black Sea nations.
