Communities across California are preparing for the arrival of a massive underwater 'Kelvin wave' of warm water, which was nearing southern California and expected to reach the San Francisco Bay Area by early October 2026 as it moves toward Alaska. Forecasters say waters could rise by about a foot along portions of the North American coastline as a result.
