Yemen's Houthis launched a wave of ballistic missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia this week, striking King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport, as well as an airbase in Khamis Mushait and Aden airport's runway. Saudi authorities confirmed at least three foreign nationals (Egyptian, Algerian, Moroccan and Sudanese) were killed and dozens injured, prompting the GCC to condemn the strikes as 'systematic crimes' against civilians. Yemen's government declared an 'all-out war' to reclaim territory from the Houthis, with the Saudi-led coalition claiming to have destroyed 82 Houthi military targets, and government forces claiming nearly 1,860 Houthi fighters 'neutralised' in the 'Dawn of Yemen' operation. The fighting has drawn in regional allies, with Turkey and Pakistan pledging defensive support under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, and Syria weighing military aid to Saudi Arabia while publicly ruling out opening a new front itself. The UN says more than 200,000 people have been displaced by the renewed fighting, mostly since early September, with aid agencies warning of mass hunger and children in Taiz attending school under threat of snipers and mortars.
