A 44-year-old Palestinian man, identified as Ali Hassan al-Bazari (also reported as Al-Bazzari), was shot dead and at least 16 others wounded when Israeli settlers opened fire on olive harvesters near Burqa and Sahl Ramin, north of Nablus. Witnesses said Israeli soldiers accompanied and protected the attackers and blocked ambulances from reaching the wounded. The incident came amid a broader pattern of settler and military violence reported in the West Bank this week, including footage of an Israeli soldier assaulting a Palestinian woman during a home raid and soldiers smashing a memorial to Palestinians. The violence coincides with reporting on what Al Jazeera described as Israel's three-year campaign of mass dispossession of West Bank Palestinians, including the uprooting of Bedouin families, which rights groups characterize as a state-backed project of forced transfer.
