The Hōlei sea arch, a roughly 90-foot-tall landmark formed 550 years ago by wave erosion on Hawaii's Big Island, has collapsed into the Pacific Ocean, the National Park Service confirmed on Friday, Oct 2, 2026. The collapse followed a stretch of rough storms battering the remote coastline of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in recent weeks.
