Several moderate earthquakes, all in the magnitude 4.6-5.5 range, were recorded around the world on Oct 7-8, 2026, including events in Indonesia (M4.7, affecting 600,000 within 100km), Japan (M4.9, 28.9 million within 100km), Papua New Guinea (M4.6, 280,000 within 100km), Russia (M4.8, few people affected), south of Fiji (M4.6, no people affected), the Philippines (M4.7, 570,000 within 100km), near Aleneva, Alaska (M5.5), and near Korumburra, Australia (M4.7). All were classified as green-level alerts by GDACS or listed as significant by USGS, with no deaths, injuries or damage reported in connection with any of them.
