Margaret Hamilton, the pioneering computer scientist who led the development of the software that enabled NASA's Apollo 11 mission to land on the Moon, has died at the age of 90. Hamilton's groundbreaking work in systems software and error detection was instrumental to the success of the historic 1969 lunar landing. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her contributions to space exploration and computer science.
