SpaceX announced it has acquired a portfolio of low-band spectrum licenses, including up to 14 MHz of paired spectrum in the 800 MHz band, to support its Starlink Mobile service becoming a full-fledged US wireless carrier. Pending FCC approval, the company plans to deploy a combined satellite-to-mobile and terrestrial network architecture. The plan would put SpaceX in direct competition with T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon, marking a significant expansion of its satellite business into traditional telecom territory.
