A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck near Norsup, Vanuatu, on October 8 at a shallow depth of about 10 km, prompting an orange GDACS alert. The agency estimated around 10,000 people could have experienced severe shaking (MMI≥VII) from the quake, which occurred roughly 102 km northeast of Norsup.
