NASA's SSPICY (Small Spacecraft Propulsion and Inspection Capability) mission launched on October 1 from Vandenberg Space Force Base to demonstrate technologies for inspecting defunct satellites. The mission aims to support future in-space repair capabilities and help reduce orbital debris. The demonstration could pave the way for servicing missions that extend satellite lifespans and mitigate the growing problem of space junk in Earth orbit.
