Investigations by OpenAI and Anthropic found that Iran-based and Iran-linked actors used leading US artificial intelligence platforms to create fake journalist identities, place articles, generate hostile content targeting Iran International, and assist in developing targeting recommendations against US naval forces. OpenAI said the campaign placed nearly 100 articles under fabricated bylines across global outlets.
