Fresh allegations have emerged accusing Prime Minister Netanyahu of mishandling the response to the 7 October attack and subsequent hostage negotiations. His former military secretary Avi Gil claims Netanyahu shelved a possible captive-exchange deal and that his chief of staff, Braverman, pressured a stenographer in January 2024 to falsify timestamps on a call record from the day of the attack. A former Biden adviser, Phil Gordon, separately alleged Netanyahu added conditions to a 2024 Gaza deal that delayed it by six months, during which several hostages died. Iran's foreign minister seized on the allegations, calling Netanyahu a 'wanted war criminal' with no regard for his own people. Netanyahu has denied wrongdoing and has refused to order a state inquiry into the 7 October failures.
