Ukraine carried out a wave of long-range drone strikes against Russian energy and infrastructure targets over several nights around October 9-10. Targets included Yandex data centers in Kaluga Oblast (struck for a second consecutive day, injuring nine), the Samara linear production dispatching station along with nearby command posts and an electronic warfare station, and the Novoshakhtinsk oil-loading terminal in Rostov Oblast, which triggered a major fire and damaged a railway bridge. Rosneft has reportedly begun recruiting anti-aircraft gun crews to defend its Samara refinery, while an earlier drone-sparked tanker fire near Sochi left an expanding oil slick, and a drone strike in Podolsk near Moscow killed a man. The strikes, part of Ukraine's ongoing campaign against Russian oil and war-supporting industries, also caused a Ukrainian drone alert over Moscow that disrupted flights of Russia's presidential aircraft fleet returning from Putin's Turkmenistan trip. Kyiv has said it will continue such strikes despite U.S. pressure tied to the Trump-Putin diesel deal.
