Doom 2016 composer Mick Gordon gave a series of interview comments addressing the growing use of AI in game music, bluntly stating his opposition to it. In the same round of interviews, Gordon also expressed enthusiasm about possibly returning to score a future entry in the Doom franchise, saying he would do so "in a heartbeat" despite his well-documented past disputes with id Software over Doom Eternal's soundtrack. The comments have generated discussion among fans and industry watchers about both the future of AI-generated music in games and whether a reconciliation between Gordon and the Doom series could eventually happen.
