Hurricane Simon, an Eastern Pacific storm, was located about 85 miles west of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico, as of Monday night October 12, 2026, moving slowly west-northwest with maximum sustained winds near 100 mph and a minimum central pressure of 969 mb. The National Hurricane Center warned that Simon's slow movement would continue to bring flooding rains along the coast of west-central Mexico, with wind probability products and forecast discussions noting the storm had begun weakening as dry air intruded into its circulation. GDACS issued an orange alert, estimating about 574,000 people in Mexico could be affected by category 1-strength winds or higher. The NHC's Eastern Pacific outlook also flagged a separate disturbance (EP93) south of southern Mexico showing signs of organization, though it remains a lower-priority watch item compared to Simon's direct threat to the Mexican coast.
