NASA's Perseverance rover set a new distance-driving record on Mars, passing a major milestone on October 11, 2026 (the mission's 2,006th Martian day) with a single drive of 299.6 feet. NASA released navcam imagery of the milestone drive and celebrated the achievement with the mission team at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who received a Guinness World Records certificate. The record underscores the durability and success of the Perseverance mission, which along with Curiosity remains operational on Mars, continuing to expand what is possible for robotic planetary exploration.
