The U.S. goods and services trade deficit increased from $92.8 billion in July to $105.6 billion in August 2026, as imports rose more than exports, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis and Census Bureau. The goods deficit alone widened by $12.8 billion to $136.6 billion, while the services surplus increased marginally to $31.0 billion. The deterioration reflects persistent import strength and weaker export demand amid ongoing economic headwinds.
