A Hezbollah lawmaker, Hassan Fadlallah, publicly acknowledged that a 500-kilogram shipment of explosives seized by Lebanese authorities last week belonged to the group, saying it was intended for use against Israeli forces and demanding its return along with the release of those arrested. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, urging him not to return the explosives and to hold accountable those who ordered the shipment. During the same call, Aoun asked Rubio to pressure Israel to halt attacks on southern Lebanon, adhere to a framework agreement, stop bulldozing operations and allow farmers access to their fields, highlighting ongoing friction over Hezbollah's weapons and continued Israeli military activity in the south.
