Researchers discovered that a protein normally fueling cancer growth, PPARD, can be converted into a weapon against tumors by activating it in immune cells. The approach made immune cells more effective at burning fat and attacking tumors, slowing or stopping cancer growth in laboratory experiments against colorectal, breast, and ovarian cancers, as well as melanoma.
