The CDC confirmed Thursday that the United States is experiencing more than 4,000 measles cases in 2026, marking the largest outbreak of the highly infectious disease in 35 years. Nearly one-fifth of cases involve children under five, and 95 percent are among unvaccinated individuals. Dr. Evan Shirey, a pediatric infectious disease specialist in Pennsylvania, urged vaccination as the outbreak continues to spread nationwide.
