The remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel brought extreme weather to the southwestern United States and Mexico's Baja California over the weekend of October 10-12, 2026. In Southern California, intense waves and flooding destroyed a boardwalk in Long Beach and damaged beachside homes, while Las Vegas and Baja California also experienced significant impacts from the storm. Further inland, flooding from Rachel's remnants stranded about 70 runners competing in Utah's Moab 240 ultramarathon; all were successfully evacuated and accounted for, according to race organizers. No deaths were reported from the California and Utah flooding, though cleanup continued in affected coastal communities.
