Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani visited Beirut as Lebanon sought economic relief, pledging Qatari funding for reconstruction and help rehabilitating the country's struggling electricity sector. The visit coincided with Lebanese efforts to curb Hezbollah's influence, even as Haaretz reported that Israel's conditions on Lebanon's government are slowing reconstruction and opening the door for Hezbollah and Iran, which are spending heavily to win public support, to recover politically. Separately, a UN aviation agency review found Lebanon's main airport lacks valid certification, setting back President Trump's plan, announced in July, to restart direct US-Beirut flights for the first time since a four-decade suspension following the 1985 TWA Flight 847 hijacking.
