British police said on October 16, 2026 they were assessing a social media post by Sarah Helm, a journalist and the wife of UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell, after she appeared to express support for Palestine Action, a group banned under UK terrorism law since July 2025. Helm's post came in response to novelist Sally Rooney's withdrawal of her books over the proscription, with Helm defending Rooney; expressing support for Palestine Action is a criminal offense in Britain.
