The IDF said on October 16, 2026 that separate strikes in Gaza killed two Hamas militants who had taken part in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, along with a Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative it accused of advancing attacks on Israeli troops, describing the incidents as ceasefire violations. Palestinian sources separately reported that Israeli fire killed at least three Palestinians across Gaza the same day, including a man shot by an Israeli drone in northern Gaza and another killed in an airstrike west of Gaza City. The incidents add to a pattern of lethal episodes inside Gaza despite the ceasefire that has been in place for just over a year, with Israeli and Palestinian accounts both citing continued military activity in the enclave.
