UNICEF said on October 16, 2026 that more than 340 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza in the year since a ceasefire was announced between Israel and Hamas, with at least five boys and two girls reported killed and 33 children seriously injured in the past two weeks alone from Israeli air strikes, drone strikes and gunfire. Two more boys reportedly died of earlier injuries. The UN agency said the toll undercuts the notion that the ceasefire has ended danger to civilians in the enclave, reflecting continuing humanitarian strain more than a year into the truce.
