Cameroonian journalist Ambe Macmillan was shot in the legs by gunmen in the northwestern city of Bamenda on October 17, 2026, and is recovering in hospital. A young woman attending a wake was also killed in the attack, which renewed concerns about the dangers facing journalists in Cameroon's English-speaking regions after years of conflict between government forces and separatist groups.
