Lebanese President Joseph Aoun announced on October 17, 2026 that a Lebanese military delegation will attend a US-backed trilateral meeting with Israel in Tampa, Florida on October 20, to press demands for an end to Israeli attacks in Lebanon. The talks follow a new war that erupted on March 2 between Israel and Hezbollah amid the wider regional conflict, and come after a US-brokered framework agreement reached in June. Aoun said Israel has not yet committed to that framework, and Lebanon intends to use the meeting to push for concrete outcomes ending Israeli escalation in Lebanese territory.
