Japanese researchers discovered that a soy-derived compound called LPC70 protected mice from multiple harmful effects of high-salt diets in a new study. Mice given the supplement demonstrated lower blood pressure, improved memory, and enhanced social interactions compared with mice consuming excess salt alone, suggesting salt may harm cognition and behavior beyond raising blood pressure. The findings point to a potential therapeutic application, though further research would be needed to determine if the compound could benefit humans similarly.
