France observed the sixth anniversary on October 20, 2026 of schoolteacher Samuel Paty's 2020 murder, which occurred after false rumors circulated accusing him of racism following a lesson in which he showed cartoons from Charlie Hebdo, the satirical publication. For the first time since his death, France Télévisions journalists were permitted to film inside Paty's school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine near Paris, where they documented a new generation of young people determined to contribute to the fight against terrorism and preserve the memory of the educator who was killed by an extremist.
