Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich met with the rabbi of Amcha Yisrael party leader Ofer Winter on October 20, seeking his help to push Winter out of the Knesset race, but Winter refused to withdraw. Winter, who is competing with both men for right-wing votes, denounced the move as part of an 'ugly and unethical' campaign, and recent polls had shown his party falling below the 3.25% electoral threshold. The pressure campaign came the same day Winter received the endorsement of Nissim Louk, father of slain hostage Shani Louk, shortly after the IDF announced it had killed the last Hamas member involved in her abduction.
