Senior Iranian officials on October 21 simultaneously raised conditions for negotiations with the United States and warned of a stronger military response if Washington chooses war, Iran International reported. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said the US has no option but to meet Iran's seven conditions, President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran no longer trusts Washington after being attacked twice and demanded sanctions and threats be lifted before any talks, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned Donald Trump that choosing war over diplomacy would bring an even greater strategic defeat for the US. Araghchi also said the US had accepted the terms of Iran's seven-day proposal but sought additional clauses, suggesting a narrow diplomatic opening remains. Qalibaf separately met Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei to discuss what officials described as military, economic and cognitive warfare being waged by the US and Israel against Iran.
