Fighting between Yemen's Saudi-backed government forces and Houthi fighters escalated around Taiz governorate, with Yemen's Interior Ministry reporting that Houthi shelling killed a civilian and a young girl and injured five others on October 21-22. Yemeni armed forces said they carried out more than 800 targeted operations, including air strikes, drones and artillery, against Houthi positions in the past day to halt a Houthi advance on the Taiz frontline. The Houthis were also accused of striking Al-Rayyan Airport in Mukalla and Aden's airport with ballistic missiles. Water rationing and piling garbage in besieged Taiz, worsened by supply routes cut since fighting began in September, have raised fears of disease outbreaks among residents, according to Jerusalem Post reporting.
