Tesla reported Wednesday that its net income fell 43 percent in the third quarter of 2026 even as revenue stayed flat at about 28 billion dollars, with its energy storage business also shrinking. During the earnings call, Tesla said it will begin selling its steering-wheel-less Cybercab to customers by the end of the year, even as federal regulators investigate whether the vehicle meets safety standards, and that owners will be able to add their own cars to the robotaxi fleet starting in the second quarter of 2027. The company also confirmed it has started producing its Optimus humanoid robot in California as part of a broader push into AI and autonomous driving, even as its core car business cools. Analysts noted that despite the flashy Roadster demo and robotics ambitions, Tesla's revenue growth has effectively stalled.
