Electronic Arts confirmed it is shutting down BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, after more than three decades. The closure comes with layoffs of around 400 EA staffers, including about 50 at BioWare, and EA has canceled the next Mass Effect project that was in development, according to Bloomberg. The move follows EA being taken private earlier this year and reflects broader restructuring within the company.
