Exiled former Tibetan leader Lobsang Sangay told France 24 on October 22 that any successor to the Dalai Lama appointed by China "is going to be a fake one". Sangay accused Beijing of ethnic erasure policies, said Tibetan concerns had been downgraded in US-China talks, and charged China with failing to warn populations of the deadly August floods on the Nepal-Tibet border that killed and displaced thousands.
