US Secretary of State Marco Rubio thanked Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani for Qatar's continued mediation efforts in Middle East conflicts during a call on October 22, 2026, the State Department said. Rubio also reaffirmed US commitment to Qatar's security and to freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
