SpaceX is planning to access at least 80,000 cell tower sites across the United States as part of an effort to compete directly with major carriers Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T, according to a report from Bloomberg published October 23, 2026. The move would give SpaceX access to roughly half of the 158,500 cell towers currently operational in the U.S.; SpaceX is in talks with Crown Castle Inc., one of the nation's largest tower owners, to facilitate the partnership.
