Teams at NASA's Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi conducted a hot fire test of RS-25 engine No. 10001 on October 21, 2026, according to reports published October 23. The test lasted for almost eight-and-a-half minutes (500 seconds), matching the firing duration of RS-25 engines during launch of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and ran at 111% power level. The successful test demonstrates the readiness of the engines that will power NASA's future deep space missions.
