Russian forces struck central Kyiv overnight on October 21 to 22 with at least three Iskander ballistic missiles carrying cluster warheads, killing one person and injuring at least 24 others. One missile struck between the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the Holy Presentation Monastery, while the attack also damaged the Museum of the Ukrainian Diaspora and the Chernihivska metro station, which partially reopened the next day. Presidential adviser Serhii Beskrestnov said the K5 cluster warhead was designed to disperse 58 explosive elements over a wide area, and Ukrainian officials accused Moscow of deliberately targeting civilians and historic sites in the capital.
