Saudi-led coalition air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by Houthi forces toward Riyadh on Friday, October 23, shortly after also downing a drone in the kingdom's eastern region; Saudi civil defense later said the danger had passed in Riyadh, Najran and Wadi al-Dawasir. The incidents came amid continuing Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. Separately, Turkey's defense minister said Ankara has no plans to engage Houthi forces in combat despite its defense pact with Saudi Arabia, while a new study suggested Saudi Arabia's expanding missile plant could produce more powerful missiles to deter Iran and the Houthis, albeit risking a regional missile race.
