BBC's Blue Planet III is deliberately keeping imperfect shots in the final series to demonstrate its authenticity in an age of AI-generated content, The Verge reported October 24, 2026. Previous iterations of the nature documentary were defined by pristine, crystal-clear footage, but producers recognize that overly polished visuals have become a hallmark of AI generation. Executive Producer Elizabeth White told The Guardian that the series intentionally includes footage showing plankton and other organic imperfections that real underwater filming captures, rejecting the seamless perfection that would betray artificial enhancement.
