Iran's diplomats repeated calls at the United Nations for the International Atomic Energy Agency to end what they called double standards and politicization in handling attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei and UN envoy Gholamhossein Darzi speaking out in New York and Vienna around October 24-25, 2026. Iran and eleven other countries, including Russia, China and Pakistan, issued a joint statement at the UN General Assembly's First Committee declaring that attacks on IAEA-safeguarded nuclear facilities must never be normalized. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi separately criticized French President Emmanuel Macron over what he called a flip-flop on the 2018 nuclear deal, while Iranian commentary accused Germany of hypocrisy for condemning renewed attacks on Iran after previously endorsing Israeli military action against it.
