Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in remarks broadcast on state TV on October 24, 2026, that the United States was responsible for the collapse of an interim nuclear deal, calling American negotiators 'cowards' who 'messed everything up,' but said Iran should still try to conclude the agreement. Separately, Pezeshkian called for an end to Iran's 'neither war nor peace' situation. He said the country needs a clean and predictable environment to plan for the future and make effective use of its vast national resources.
