The New York Times reported that Russia's sanctioned Novatek secretly financed and controlled the 25 billion dollar Polar Train LNG project in the United States, prompting nearly the entire management team to leave the company. The project had reportedly been discussed by US peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner during their September 2026 visit to the Kremlin.
