Vanuatu experienced a cluster of moderate earthquakes overnight into October 25, 2026, ranging from magnitude 4.8 to 6.2, according to GDACS alerts. The largest, a magnitude 6.2 quake at 136 km depth recorded at 02:24 UTC, was estimated to have affected around 110,000 people at MMI IV intensity, while the other quakes in the sequence were reported as affecting few or no people within 100 kilometers. All the events were classified as low-severity "green" alerts by GDACS, indicating limited expected impact, though the repeated shaking reflects ongoing seismic activity in the region, which sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
