Israel launched a wide operation in Hebron after two soldiers were killed in an attack, and announced a West Bank crossing closure for the October 27 election. Forces displaced thousands of Palestinians, sealed attackers' homes ahead of demolition, and reportedly searched 500 buildings finding two weapons; Israeli media said the operation would end within days. Palestinian workers are barred from most areas, and settlers set fire to a Palestinian home. Mazen al-Rantisi, a 71-year-old doctor, was released from detention showing signs of abuse.
