Manchester United lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth on Sunday, extending their winless run to eight matches and leaving manager Michael Carrick under severe pressure. Captain Bruno Fernandes was left out of the team after publicly criticising Carrick following the earlier defeat by Como. Carrick said he is in the dark over his future and was saddened by the situation, though he said his earlier comments were not a farewell. Fans sang support for Carrick but opposed much else at the club. BBC Sport's gossip column reported that Eddie Howe is open to talks with United if they part ways with Carrick, while other pieces looked at when Premier League sacking season begins and called for stability.
