The Kuji Amber Museum in Kuji, a coastal city in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, is the only museum in the country dedicated to amber, Atlas Obscura reported. Kuji has a long history of amber excavation and is one of the few sources of amber of significant size and quality for commercial gem and ornamental use. Amber deposits are found across much of Japan, from Hokkaido to Fukuoka Prefecture, but Kuji's are notable for their size and quality.
