The UN World Food Programme warned on October 14, 2026 that intensifying fighting in Yemen has cut life-saving aid to 800,000 people, with shifting frontlines, blocked roads and insecurity restricting access to Taiz and other conflict zones. The UN Spokesperson said on October 13 that Taiz faces a devastating crisis from a Houthi siege, a cholera outbreak and aid cuts, which are driving up food prices and causing shortages. Separately, the WHO head called for urgent health action across the Eastern Mediterranean, naming Sudan, Yemen and the Occupied Palestinian Territory among the region's worst crises.
