New research reports that an ice cap in Canada, all that remains of a vast ice sheet that once covered nearly 30 percent of North America, began expanding about 2,000 years ago. Smithsonian Magazine reported that the ice cap began shrinking in the 1960s. The researchers link the reversal to human-caused climate change.
